Since leaving my day job, I have to have a list in order to keep on track. Blogging is a priority. It is a priority for me because it is absolutely my "list". The Lord said in Habakkuk 2:2-3, "Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry." I'm not a bible scholar, but I believe it, wholeheartedly, and with that, I give you, assignment number ONE!
Since I graduated college, I have longed to be an influence to young people. As I get older, the need becomes stronger, so I decided to start a youth center in my community. I was divinely given a name and all, but before I announce all of that, assignment one comes first.
I have a desire to get to know the youth of today. I feel like they are lost, I feel like they are train wrecks waiting to happen, I feel they are dangerous, I have a lot of opinions and I want to know why? I want to know why I feel the need to lock my doors when there are multiple young people around, especially with their pants down below their bottoms. I have so many questions and my assignment one is to get answers!
I am going to take the time to interview, interact and get answers to what the youth feel about today. I'm going to ask them about their futures. I'm going to ask them why they feel the need to dress and present themselves in certain ways. I am going to ask them about their surroundings and if they feel that it plays a part in how they act. I want to know if they desire to live, or just exist.
It is a great task so I ask that you pray for me if you can! I'm used to the urban community, I grew up in them. I'm really not scared at all, I'm actually excited, and I can't wait to bring you all the results from assignment one!
